My external hard disk which houses all my songs, vector art, photos, videos, etc. (basically every thing) has somehow mysteriously corrupted.

Seriously what the fuck is wrong? It's barely 6 months old. Every time I return home something fucks up. One semester ago it was not one, but two monitors. Two semesters ago it was the hard disk and a keyboard. I'm pissed.

~~I've been running a data recovery program for almost 48 hours now and hopefully be able to recover whatever I can...~~ Nope. That didn't work.
